The C.O.R.A.* Diversity Roll Call will alternate between Color Online and Worducopia each week, with a question that explores and celebrates diversity in literature. Different weeks may focus on racial diversity, ethnicity, abilities, sexual identity, social class, and so on. No need to officially sign up--join in each week as you wish. Starting now with these two questions:
Think about all the books you've read--and I'm guessing that's a pretty high number so this may be tricky!
- Which is the character who's the most different from you? (And how? Use this as an excuse to tell us your own background and anything else about yourself that's important to your self-identity).
- Which is the author (this could be fiction, nonfiction, poetry, etc.) who is (or was) the most different from you?
This is a great meme! I'm getting ready to go out of town, but I'll try to participate in the future.
ReplyDeleteThis a great idea. I am looking forward to participating.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry I haven't been around your blog for a long time. I haven't been blogging much myself, but I just wanted to drop by and say hi, wish you a good weekend and a nice Easter (if you celebrate that) and apologize for being scarce.
ReplyDeleteI am finishing my Master thesis and this takes up most of my time. Hopefully, by the end of May, I will be able to blog more and participate more around the blogosphere.
I am still reviewing books from time to time on my blog, but I am not really active.
I don't expect you to come running visiting and commenting, I just wanted to let you know that I am very much alive and I miss reading and commenting on your blog very much.
This is a personal message written to all the blogowner, whose delightful blogs I visit on a regular basis, but it has been copy/pasted. So if you find it on other blogger's blogs, that is why.
I look very much forward to be active again - and apologize once again for not being active the past month and not being able to be active for another month or two.

(Looking forward to check back on this enormously interesting meme when I am back in full swing!)
Hi-
ReplyDeleteFirst off, what does the word meme mean?
I always wanted to be an astronomer, but I struggled in math. I also wanted to work for NASA. Where I live, Oak Lawn borders Chicago, so we have alot of light polution. That is what astronomers call too many lights in the neighborhood. When I was able to go to my brother Jim's house, I was able to see the brighter stars. I can't anymore since I have now ALS/Lou Gehrig's Disease. Thanks to Google Earth and Sky, I can still enjoy stargazing, though it is from a computer program. You should check out Google Sky. They give out information on where you point your mouse. Judy
I forgot to leave my book blog address: intergalaticbookworm.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I'll have something posted shortly.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea so much!! I'll be back with a link to a proper answer :P
ReplyDeleteBookworm,
ReplyDeleteYou did not leave a link to a post responding to the query.
Judy's post is here: http://intergalacticbookworm.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteA meme is when many people address the same question or task on their blogs at the same time. Or did you mean the origin of the word? I think it's from genetics.
Thanks for all the comments, everyone! Mine is written in my head but probably won't be posted til tomorrow. :-)
Alright, I did my part for the week - now I'm off to read what the rest of your have written. Thanks for a good and thought-provoking prompt.
ReplyDeleteGreat questions Ali! I'm still trying to think of my answers, lol, but I'll try to come up with something soon. :)
ReplyDeleteHope it's alright if a comics nerd can participate in this too...

Claudia, Thanks for participating!
ReplyDeleteEva, I have complete faith that you'll think of something. Looking forward to seeing what you have to say.
Rich, We here at Worducopia are in fact big fans of the comics nerds. Thanks for joining in! I'm off to check out your response right now.
