I've been participating in the Dewey Knit-a-long challenge this month, and it's about time I posted a progress report on that here.
I introduced the felted booga bag I'm working on here, but I'm obviously using different colors and a slightly different pattern. The yarn is an old Ecuadorian sweater I unraveled when it started falling apart a few years ago--and here is the bag so far:
Being on the road, I've been appreciating the fact that I have a project to work on--I can knit on roads too curvy to read by! But now I must go read Ranger's Apprentice to my sleepy boys. Good night!
knitting...just one more thing that I could never get the hang of. I was sitting on a plane flight last weekend next to a woman knitting, with this weird fuzzy yarn..it was fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that you're recycling an old sweater.
ReplyDeleteI think it's going to look great in these colors. I'd love to make a felted bag or those cute little bowls but I haven't graduated or had the patience to move on from afghans, doilies and dish cloths. lol.
ReplyDeleteCaite, what you need is a friend to sit next to you and show you (over and over, if necessary) what to do. I tried to knit a sweater from a book's instructions once, and it went great till I got to the sleeves. It's still sitting in my closet, 20 years later.
ReplyDeleteKathy, Thanks! It's taken me several years since unraveling the sweater to actually start the project, but I recall thinking it was a pretty cool idea way back then, too, LOL.
Dar, felting is (so I hear) really easy. You just knit normally with the right kind of yarn, and the washing machine does the fancy part. At the point I'm at right now, this bag is my easiest ever knitting project (I've done 6, if you count the half-sweater) because all I'm doing is knitting around and around and around.
So nice. I love the colors! You have many talents :)
ReplyDeleteLooks good! I love having something to do with my hands while watching tv. :)
ReplyDeleteOk....first I need a friend....then I need one who can knit...than I need one who can knit and is patient enough not to stab me with the needles whan O ask just one too many questions. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments, Jessi and ChicGeek. I just hope it looks like I want it to after it's felted.
ReplyDeleteAw, Caite, come to Portland! I'm not a very good teacher for crafty stuff (I barely hang on) but I can think of 3-4 people like that off the top of my head.
Oh, do post a pic after the felting is completed! I've seen beautiful felted bags, flower pins, etc., but haven't tried it (I'm mastering the rectangle/scarf)
ReplyDeleteThose colors are gorgeous! I started my fourth bag this week!
